Welcome to YANZ, the Young Amateurs of New Zealand. YANZ was formed for the promotion of AMATEUR or "HAM" RADIO with a target audience of young people.
(Note: This is not, contrary to what some people seem to be learning via their poor choice of words within search engines, a porn site.)
The YANZ group is very much a best-effort type facility driven by a small number of dedicated enthusiasts. As such, the website is very much a work-in-progress! We welcome participation from all comers, check out our Forums System.
Current Events:
- The Young Amateurs Net
- The net is basically defunct due to lack of participation. Your humble webmaster isn't able to be on air regularly enough at the right time, and others have not picked up the task. We still hope to bring it back!!! Please check out the Forum and help us make the most of this opportunity to network on-air in realtime.
- The Web Forum
- Theres plenty of room for manouvre and growth on our web forum. We welcome discussion at all levels. Join us via the link above.
- Break-In Column
- NZART members will see a contribution from the YANZ Corner in (most) issues of the NZART Journal - "Break-In". Look for us. Contributions for the bi-monthly publication gratefully received!
- NEW: Jamboree On the Air (JOTA)
- JOTA is not far away - Labour Weekend 2007. What are you up to? JOTA is an event run by Scouts and Guides where they can use Amateur Radio to communicate with their compatriots around the world. This is an excellent opportunity to promote our hobby and educate them on exactly how relevant Amateur Radio related interests are to our daily lives. Check out the Forums - we'd be happy to publicise and/or provide 'coverage' of your event via our website and via Break-In.
Thanks -
Mark ZL1VMF, for YANZ.
PS: If you can't see the 'Sign up' Link, its an Icon like
at the top-right. Alternatively Click Here.
PPS: Due to a recent influx of bots which seem capable of bypassing the image-test requirements of the signup process, Forum accounts now need to be manually approved. This shouldn't take more than a couple of hours most of the time, apologies for any inconvenience.
If you find your account is not approved, this is probably deliberate - however enquiries can be sent to me care of the form found at BlakJak.net.
